Heckert entered the PittLite 125 at Bristol looking to regain momentum following a disappointing weekend at Greenville a few weeks prior. The 21-year-old put forth a strong effort in qualifying on Thursday, beginning the race in the sixth position. From the drop of the green flag, Heckert made it known that he had speed. The Connecticut native held strong inside the top 10 for the duration of the event. A late restart allowed Heckert to move from fourth to third, the position he would eventually finish. The third-place result moved Heckert to eighth in the NKNPSE Driver Point Standings.
Scott Heckert on his top five at Bristol:
“This finish feels good. Both races that we’ve finished this season, we have finished in the top five, so we’ve had strong cars everywhere we’ve been. I think that’s a sign of things to come. We didn’t quite have enough to mess with the top two today, and probably missed a little on the halftime adjustment, but we will get them at Iowa.”
